VOLUNTEERS NEEDED NOW!

PVGS is looking for volunteers to help in our library room Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 4:00. Volunteers help visitors with family research using our computers and books/reference materials. Some training is involved, mainly learning the location of materials and how to research on websites such as Ancestry, Family Search and Newspapers.com in order to help visitors.

If you can work 1, 2, 3 days, or even half a day, please contact us. It is essential to have an adequate number of volunteers to carry on our mission to the community. We have a dedicated group of volunteers, but it is a small group and can get stretched thin when other needs arise with family, work, transportation, etc. I hope you will step up to help your organization.

SCOLL ON OVER TO THE INVENTORY TAB IN THE LEFT HAND COLUMN AND YOU WILL FIND IT UNDER THE "ONLINE BOOK STORE" TAB, YOU CAN THEN FILTER BY CATEGORY AND YOU WILL SEE CEMETERIES OF LEFLORE COUNTY AND CLICK ON IT AND YOU WILL FIND THE LATEST PUBLISHED BOOK "COWLINGTON CEMETERY."

You will see that we have the best genealogy library in the two-state area. We are located in the northern part of the Choctaw Nation Reservation next to the Arkansas State line. Go to the Library/Archives tab and check out what we have in our inventory. We are continually uploading to the inventory list!

If you are wanting to join our society, go to the Online Join tab, once you join you will be able to access the members only section. Many of the memorials under the Cemeteries tab can contain obituaries. We are continually adding obituaries.

What to do with your Genealogy Books?

If you no longer use some of your genealogy books, please consider donating them to the Poteau Valley Genealogical Society Library. You can drop them off at 206 S. McKenna St, Poteau, OK or mail them to PVGS, P.O. Box 1031, Poteau, OK 74953
